Transformers 2: Devastator

Transformers Constructicon Devastator Experience

Staying true to the movie, this Transformers Devastator is massive, standing well over a foot in height and dwarfing most other Transformers toys. He is a solid, heavy, and well-built toy. Pulling a lever on his chest causes his mouth (called the Vortex Grinder) to light up with bright, neon-green LED lights. The lever also triggers battle sounds and quotes taken straight from the movie.

Devastator isn’t the most flexible toy around. Because of his size, he can be a bit cumbersome to play with. However, his elbows and knees are articulated, which makes him easier to position and balance. He also has realistic details, which gives him value as a collector’s replica.

Devastator consists of six smaller construction vehicles: the Constructicons. These detailed vehicles are painted in earthy colors suited for their rough construction jobs. Together, the Constructicons form a complete construction team. There is a bulldozer, a dump truck, an excavator, a scoop loader, a mixer and a crawler crane. They prove to be very maneuverable on a hard surface, able to make hairpin turns easily. However, it should be noted that, unlike their film counterparts, these vehicles do not transform into robots individually.

Devastator might be one of the biggest transformers around, but it’s also one of the most difficult to put together. Parents should be aware that the Devastator requires some degree of finesse to assemble — and in some cases, strength. Some of the snapping parts are especially tricky to connect together, and prove difficult to pry apart. The toy is labeled as a Level 4 conversion, so younger children will have difficulty converting the toy by themselves. It took our tester (an experienced Transformer player) nearly 15 minutes to figure everything out. Still, putting the toy together should provide a constructive challenge for older kids.

Transformers 2: Devastator Constructicon Reviews

5 Stars The best present for a grown kid!
I bought this for my husband for Christmas, but couldn’t wait to give it to him… He has it up on a shelf in his “man room” and it looks awesome! You can press a button on the toys’ chest and it talks, but the one I bought has a tendency to talk when ever it feels like it! (which is hilarious!!!) The price was average but I’d pay it again!

THANKS!

4 Stars Transformer Devastator
My son absolutely loves this transformer! The only problem is the toy is made up of 6 different transformers, so when you assemble them all together, it’s difficult to keep it together and play with it too. My son has had a little trouble “clicking” all the parts together, but overall it’s a great toy!

2 Stars Transformers that don’t transform
Though the toy looks impressive when combined, the vehicles themselves don’t transform. Talk about dissappointing, considering that both in the movie and in the original Devestator, the individual vehicles transformed.

You have to buy the transformable vehicles individually, but they of course cannot combine to form anything.

If they could put the best of both worlds together, easily a 5 star rating, but since they haven’t, I can’t imagine why anyone would give it a 5.

5 Stars my bad expectations were devastated!
I had heard about devastator from a lot of sources, but when I went to by him I still didn’t know what to expect.boy, was I in for a surprise!when I saw him I was astounded!he is HUGE!my favorite thing about him is his vortex grinder.
